Coronavirus Update March 20

March 20, 2020 Coronavirus Update

The severity of SARS-COV-2 is starting to kick up in the United States with many of the large coastal cities experiencing the increased case load of the people affected. People in large cities are starting to self-quarantine and it is paramount that we all follow suit. What we do now affects the weight on our healthcare system.

Currently Knox county only has two confirmed cases in part to the first individual self-quarantining. Now that we have another case, I believe that we will start seeing more cases pop up in the next week. We are 1 ½ weeks behind Nashville’s numbers. The only hope I see is if warm weather affects the transmission of the virus. Currently the vast majority of people infected show signs of the virus by 11 days with the median being 5 days.

I have been researching extensively on treatment and preventative measures. South Korea and China have had success with Hydroxycholorquine with azithromycin and Chloroquine. These medications are available but only administered to the sickest patients. Currently the best way to prevent the spread of coronavirus is by self-quarantining and washing your hands. I also recommend Vitamin C and Zinc. NSAIDS like Ibuprofen have been noted to worsen symptoms along with elderberry and should be avoided. Eat a healthy diet and refrain from processed sugars.

Stay active! There are plenty of gym and yoga groups that are having online gatherings. I am offering free beginner yoga every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 8 pm. I am also offering coronavirus consultations for $10. This includes a health history, the newest information on preventative measures, and treatment. If someone you know has been exposed to this virus and would like to talk contact me through my website empoweredhealthtn.com. If we empower ourselves today, then we can get through this together tomorrow.
